CULTURAL PRESERVATION

Our dedication to cultural preservation is a commitment to the future, to ensuring that the Ramapough way of life, steeped in respect for our history and the natural world, continues to flourish and inspire generations to come.

OUR FOCUS

We fight for the preservation and restoration of the Ramapough Munsee Community.

We are planting seeds of hope through food sovereignty. In conjunction with the Munsee Three Sisters Medicinal Farm we are growing healthy food and distributing it to our community and those who are in need to enrich lives, create jobs, preserve our culture and community, and offer hope.

Preserving Ceremonial Stone Landscapes & Lands

The Foundation is dedicated to protecting ceremonial stone landscapes and sacred sites integral to the Ramapough identity and heritage.

When our ancestors came here 11,000 years ago they recognized the sacred nature of the giant shards of iron ore in the Ramapo Mountains and all the electrical and magnetic energy they possessed. Our ancestors revered the power and importance of this place and we still do. That is our inheritance and responsibility. Our relationship to this land should be what guides policy.

2

Language Preservation

Reviving and sustaining the Ramapough language is key to maintaining our cultural richness and historical narrative.

The Ramapough understand that part of their healing and survival is really dependent on recovering key aspects of their cultural ways, and language is on par with restoring foodways and their access to clean water, land and air.

3

LAND RECLAMATION

The Ramapough Culture and Land Foundation champions Land Reclamation as a vital effort to reassert jurisdiction over ancestral territories, guided by traditional laws and practices.

This initiative underscores the importance of governance, relationships, culture, language, and economic development in strengthening the sovereignty and thriving of the Ramapough community. Through this work, the Foundation aims to empower its people, affirm treaty rights, and foster a sustainable future for generations to come.
