Food Sovereignty

Planting seeds of hope through food sovereignty.

In conjunction with the Munsee Three Sisters Medicinal Farm we are growing healthy food and distributing it to our community and other people who are in need. This saves lives, creates jobs, preserves community, and offers hope.

Our Initiatives

1

Munsee Three Sisters Farm

The Munsee Three Sisters Medicinal farm provides sustenance and education to our people, as well as other people in need. Recovering our culture through food sovereignty is of the highest importance.

Due to the toxic waste that has been disposed of upon our community in Ringwood, New Jersey, we have lost the ability to hunt clean game animals and gather traditional wild edibles. We risk losing the knowledge of our healing plants, and with that, the loss of language that is associated with gathering them. Food sovereignty gives us an opportunity to heal through cultural regeneration.

2

MEDICINAL FARMING

We are more than cultivators of the land; we are guardians of a legacy and protectors of cultural knowledge that defines us.

At the Ramapough Culture & Land Foundation, we embrace the transformative power of medicinal farming, deeply rooted in our Munsee traditions. This practice is not merely about agriculture; it’s a revival of our ancestral wisdom in healing and well-being. Partnering with the Munsee Three Sisters Medicinal Farm, we are rekindling the ancient knowledge that has nourished our people for generations.

USDA Climate-Smart Commodities Grant & Support Opportunities

Grant support is crucial to our establishment of food sovereignty because it provides essential financial support and resources enabling the expansion of our operations as we grow in climate-conscious, sustainable ways that amplify our community impacts.

As a recipient of the PASA grant, our foundation leverages this support to expand our agricultural initiatives. We invite and encourage community involvement and support to further these efforts, fostering a sustainable future that is deeply connected to our cultural roots.
